Unplugging an injector

Somebody in another forum section was wondering if they should unplug the injector until they could get a new COP. (It was ordered, but it was going to take a couple of days)

If you were going to drive it, that would seem to be a good idea to prevent cat damage. Still, I don't imagine that it would run very good.

Would YOU drive it with one cylinder missing?

I wouldn't drive it that way. Either way, it'll be reading excess oxygen in the exhaust (oxygen sensor detects oxygen, not raw gas), so it'll go full rich trying to compensate. The dead cylinder will wash the oil down off the cylinder walls with the injector plugged in, and would really cook the cats. It'd probably still cook the cats with the injector unplugged going full rich.
