Bobbie, it's always better and more accurate to measure from the center of the wheel hub to the lip of the fender. That way different size wheels and tires won't skew the numbers and add to the overall lift dimensions.

Other than that, it's nice to see you got her put back together! Speaking of which, how did you solve your problem?

I'll remember that trick about measuring. I figured I was safe with my measurements because I actually used the same tires before and after. I know that it will skew the numbers once I put on the 35s but both measurements were done with the stock sized tires.

I replaced the upper control arm completely.

From what everyone was saying the ball joint went bad and on these trucks you've got to replace the whole control arm.

I've also got new tie rod ends and sway bar links to be replaced which I'll just break down and have the alignment shop do those. I just don't fell like pulling the truck apart again right now.

Very good!

A quick side note: My nephew (sisters son) just left for Pendleton for MCT. He graduated from MCRD back on the 18th of January.

Congrats to him. It's not an easy task and I'm sure he's happy he's done.

I've been out now longer than I was in and I had heard that they have changed alot since I got out.

Yep, we're plenty proud of him!

His twin brother leaves for Army boot camp next week.

I finally got the wheels/tires and fender flares on today!!

Wheels and Tires - Awesome!! Check out a few pics from the "make sure everything was ok" ride.

I don't have any pics at the moment of the fender flares because it was pitch black outside by the time I finished getting those things on. I will post some more pictures tomorrow when there is daylight.

Let's say this....this truck is starting to look really rockin'!!

All in all the rear fender flares were a pain in the .... I even got this nice memento from the rear fenders.

It actually looks better now than it did. It was bleeding quite a bit for a while there. Nothing like pouring your own sweat and blood into a project!!

I'll post up the "final" weekend project pictures tomorrow.

I like it. Nice stance, and the black-out look works. Good work.

Thanks!

I can't do the total blackout look since the truck is white, but I like the look of black and white just as much.

"Black and white" is ultimately what I meant, I guess...blackout was the first word that popped in my head though.

And btw: I gutted the interior of mine to get ready for the new audio system, and I've drawn a bit of blood in the meantime too...lol.

As promised here are the photos with the final look from all the upgrades over the weekend. I am really liking the current look.

Up next, getting rid of all the tan. I've got one quote for the bottom panels for $800 and it should only take about $10 in black spray paint for the bed rail caps.

She's coming along nicely. After all the looks are done it will be time to look more towards power and performance.
