The downshifting was only present in the 60t and 80e.

When they were adjusting it, the gentleman (forget his name) called me and told me he was working on it, And told me what the fix is going to be, But i forget what he said as well. Man, were is my memory going? maybe i can get that adjusted somehow .

I will know here shortly how it behaves after the adjustment. I get the truck out of winter storage this Saturday. The Dp folks are quick. My wife shipped it out Thursday pm. And i got it back today.. Fast !.. I didn't expect it back this week..

It felt like when you take the shift lever and downshift manually.. Eeek..

When i ordered it I thought the downshifting was omited due to the majority not liking it. O well, I should have asked about it instead of assuming.

Thanks Dan. I guess I will find out soon how mine acts. Just installed my F5, with the 60t.
I won't get a chance for a week or so to hook up and find out how it is with our 5th wheel in tow. Taking a long trip toward end of April so want to get sorted out soon.

Being you just got yours maybe you don't have it. But it was even was worse with the 5th wheel. It would jerk my hitch while slowing down. I would just bump it to the stock setting when slowing down to not have it downshift for that one trip i did with it.

60t helped a lot pulling the camper. The up shifting was super. I liked it, Glad i got it. It just needed to be tweaked is all.

I am curious to what was changed, Should have payed more attention to what was adjusted so i know what to expect now.

Ok Dp fans please clue me in?

I went to our local diesel shop today to ask a few questions and to see if they would check the boost on my 99.

They asked me what kind of tuner I was thinking about buying. I told them DP.

His question to me was how would a custom DP tuner know what my truck was doing when Im running a aftermarket tranny and the engine computer has been reflashed which is the case with many e99's?

He says any off the shelf Edge or any other brands going to work exactly the same as a DP.

Once the computer has been reflashed theres no way to get it back to stock and start fresh.

I believe your guy is wrong. You can get it re flashed back to stock at the ford dealer and I may be wrong but i think i remember dp or clay at riffraff can do it also ?? WITH THE DP you can customize the tuner for what you have and what you want it to do . Talk to jody at dp and he will set you straight. The off the shelf tuners are just that, a pre set tuner..

I love my DP- in that I can change tunes by simply hitting a small button. What I don't like is the high cost of reburns Jody charges. Once you get it (and yes, you will want guages to monitor increased heat) you may want MORE, it's called PMS lol.... bigger injectors, maybe a different turbo- all of which would benefit from a re-burn of the chip. There are others out there that offer a great chip w/ free lifetime re-burns. Like I said, I love mine, but there are options for those who anticipate future changes and don't want to pay for them.

It doesn't matter if your PCM was reflashed. The tuner takes over in each setting. What trans do you have. Does it shift like stock or hard shifts. All you have to do is tell Jody what you have and how it shifts and he can fix it or try to keep it the same. With the F6 you get updates on these tunes free and you can do them online yourself. With the F5 I have you have to send it in and pay shipping and he can update your tunes for free. If you add tunes thats extra but I don't know anybody that adds tunes for free.

I will agree DP asks questions about each individual situation, gear ratio, trans, mods, etc. That is part of a custom tune, custom to your truck.
My old Superchip could remove or install the tune at my will, difference of course it was a one size fits all but also takes 5-10 minutes sitting still. With my DP I push a button to go back to stock or switch tunes.
I can't speak to the re-flashed option, I am not clear what that intails.

I can add after a few days of driving my normal routine, most in 80e, I love it. I am not having any problems with downshifts, and I spend a lot of time in the 35-50 mph range.

The reason I went with DP, aside from the overwhelming positive comments from other users, was the de-cel option. I will be towing a 12k 5th wheel out west, in mountains, and look forward to some help with braking and trimming some speed going down hills.

I encourage emailing or calling DP, they answered my questions before I ordered mine. Great to deal with.
