56 f100 windshield install
56 f100 windshield install
How difficult is it to install new front windshiel in a 56 f100? I have new weather strip, I have installed back glass, no problem, just havent tried to install curved front.
Nice Price!
Installing isn't too difficult.....more nerve-racking fearing that you are gonna break it. The procedure should take 2 people. Insure that the truck windshield frame is clean and in good condition. Place the weatherstripping onto the glass. If you have stainless PITA trim; install it into the weatherstripping. Get a rope about half the diameter of a pencil and about 20" longer than the outside perimeter of the glass. Stuff the rope into the weatherstrip's "retaining lip" starting at the bottom center of the windshield and leaving about 10" hang out. Continue stuffing the rope all the way around the windshield ending up with another 10" hanging out at the bottom center. Pick up the whole assembly and place it into the frame opening from the outside. Position it as close to the frame retaining lip as possible. Lube the weatherstrip and rope with soapy water. While a person is on the outside gently pushing in on the glass a person inside starts slowly pulling the rope ends which will force the weatherstrip retaining lip to pop over the frame lip. Pull some from each ends of the rope being careful to insure the weatherstrip lip goes over the frame lip. carefull around the corners. Gentle slapping of the windshield will help seat it in place. By the time both ends of the rope reach the top center; the glass is installed. This is where I like to force some black butyl between the outside of the glass and the weatherstrip so that it won't leak.
well, that's how I do it.
