air horns!!!

Try ebay for horns. I bought a great complete kit form WOLO mfg. the guy selling it last name is swolo so i assume he is the mfg. The set of challenger horns, tank, compressor, electric solinoid, hose, fittings and a tire hose cost $160.00. The horns are the short cement mixer type and have a higher tone than the 28 inchers. However, you can make those honda jockies doodie in theier pants with one quick blast. Search for the seller under the ebay seller name "bluecoupe". I have bought 2 sets and am very pleased!

air horns!!!

I really want a really loud horn, for annoying people talking on their cell phone in the fastlane doing 20mph below the speed limit. Want to get one, but do not want to mess the truck up. But it would be very cool. Thinking that should be an option on the truck. Smokey and Bandit was on TV tonight.

My tank is from the air brakes on a school bus and is mounted on the outside of the right side frame rail just in front of the rear axle. My horns are off of a "Duece and a Half" truck and are mounted on the outside of the right side frame rail just behind the front wheel. I had to mount the horns facing the rear so that they won't fill with mud (as fast).

air horns!!!

I have a 7-1/2 gallon tank mounted on the drivers side inside the frame about mid truck[between the 2 doors on a crew cab] which is about the only spot you can fit a tank that big. My compressor is mounted on the outside of the frame about in the same spot, and I made a custom made mount for mounting 4 horns facing at the ground in front of the rear passenger wheel[not in the wheel well], the back side of the horns are tucked up as high to the box as possible. You can see a little bit of the horns if you look from the side but I figured that way you would hear them from all directions,150 PSI.

Question air horns!!!

USMCCOWBOY:

I saw your postings on Hadley Ambassador Horns and was wondering where you placed them on your truck.

I am in the process of putting an Ambassador Set on my Excursion, but could not find a safe place for the horns under the hood. And I really don't want to melt the air lines either!!!

Any thoughts, ideas or tipps?

Let me know.

Also was wondering if you place the compressor also along with the horns and tank on the frame or if you are putting the compressor under the hood?

I mounted the air compressor under the truck along with the air tank. I mounted the compressor in a plastic battery box holder bolted to the frame rail. I put it in the box to keep it out of the weather.

air horns!!!

Thank you for your reply....

I'll thought about some kind of protection for the compressor, even if the manufacturer tells me, that it doesn't matter...

Just ordered my kit today... should be here on Wednesday or Thursday...

I will post a message when I'm done with the installation of the horns, compressor and tank. I leave the electrical connections up to an expert - don't want to mess up the truck!

air horns!!!

I’m on my second set of Hadley Bully air horns (same kit as the Ambassador, but the horns are a little shorter). The first set left in my old F150 I sold. I had to have a set on my 2000 F350.

Here’s the details on my install:
I wanted to mount the horns on the roof for maximum sound, but I would have a clearance problem with my slide-in camper. So I settled for behind the front license plate. It’s not quite as loud as the roof install would be, but there’s still plenty of noise. I just made a bracket to bolt them to the bumper that positions the horns behind the license plate. The compressor is mounted to a aluminum plate that’s bolted to the frame and radiator support below the battery. The air tank is on the left side of the engine compartment on a custom bracket.

I wanted the horns to run off the stock horn button, so I just tapped into the horn wire in the engine compartment. I did install two switches in the cab. One of the switches disables the air horn if I want just the factory horns. Otherwise, all horns blow together (although you can’t hear the factory ones over the Hadleys). The other switch in the cab allows me to turn the compressor off if I don’t want to listen to it run.

Talking air horns!!!

All right... job well done!

I installed all components to my truck and I am running with those Hadley Ambassador horns since about 2 weeks. I have to say: AN ABSOLUTE MUST!!!

I installed the air tank and compressor to the frame on the passenger side. The two horns (29" and 26") which came with the kit I installed one on each side, one on the driver side and one on the passenger side, behind the inner fender. I created some custom brackets, so that the horns are tilted forward and downwards, so that rain, etc. can run off.

The electrical hook up was done at the dealership as I did not wanted to fool around with that.

I think my service manager scared himself when he first pushed the horn button... (LOOL)

Would not want to miss that kind of equipment ever again...
Awesome and plentyful sound... and most importantly: LOUD!!!

I can guarantee, no one will pull out in front of you any more.. and if they try, you can blow 'em right off the road! (ROFL)
