nafzimo. Cool, I like that Idea. it would be good for the jerk that parks close to the truck and wants to hit the side of the truck with thier car door. Damn rice runners. It might be nice if you could hook up a sensor that would set off the air horns if you were in a store and the jerk hit the side of the truck.....Hummmm another Idea, cool.

Nafzimo- I have everything I need to do this whole thing. The question I have is, do I need to tie in a relay for the horn wire? I am just going to pull the horn(and put it in my wife's Camry, heh, heh.) and splice the horn wire straight to the new horn solenoid. Will that work? Is that what you did?If you have a line for another one of those compressor I would love to get my hands on it. I have not had any luck finding a compressor that is not belt driven in so.cal. Let me know. Thanks.
You can go to e-bay and punch in viair and they make 12 volt compressors that you can use for horns or whatever. I mounted 4 train air horns underneath my superduty pointing at the ground... talk about loud, but there fun.

I ran a new wire from the battery to the air solenoid and then spliced right into the horn wire under the dash and used it to ground the air solenoid. It would have been easier if the factory horn was switched on the positive side. Anyway, I did not use a relay.
As for a compressor. I had no idea what to use. I bought a tomas 215 off of ebay. I paid about $50 but it works well.
I recently installed a airhorn setup on my 2002 Excursion PSD. I bought a 2 foot Grover horn from the local 18wheeler store , and the entire install kit from Rickerson truck supply. Wired the Airhorn to my factory horn in the steeting wheel, much easier than going for another switch.
Thanks for the lead. I am trying to find a used comp. if possible. The reason is that those small compressors do have have the capacity or the duty cycle usage to blow up my 38's. Anyway-so the positive wire is not the switched wire on the stock horn?
For some reason, Ford decided to switch the gound to the horn. Took me a while to figure that out. It also makes me a bit nervous... if the wire that I ran as a ground to the horn rubs the frame somewhere, it could cause the horn to stick on.
O.k. guys one last bit of help. Got my horns set up and they are great but there is one hitch. When I hit the lock button for the keyless entry, the electrical signal does not last long enough to activate the horn solenoid. I would like to cut loose the wires from them keyless entry and wire them straight to the stock horn so that when I hit my air horns the stock horn does not blow but when I lock the doors with the fob the stock still blows. Where are these two things spliced together? Any ideas?

Matt
So the horn acts as a normally open set of contacts. When you press the horn it completes the circuit. Do I understand correctly?
yes - right now I have both horns hooked up but you can still here the stock one and it sounds like crap. When I push the panic button apparently the signal is sufficiently long there to blow the air horns just not when I press the lock button.
Boys will be boys!! I have a set of Nathan train horns bolted under my rig with a pair of air tanks to feed them. The compressor pumps the tanks to 200 psi and does a FANTASTIC job of getting peoples attention when I hit the remote. I have a Compustar auto-start with a 3 mile range. It is great to play with people!! Had some tranny work done a few weeks ago and as the tech took it for a drive, I told the boss which is a friend of mine what i was going to do. We stood out in front of the shop as he drove off and the horn blasted every couple of seconds. Needless to say he came back to tell me my truck was broke and everyone at the shop was busting a gut!!
I have another set of horns that I want to bolt on, but not sure if I have the space for them!
