Ok, I finally went ahead and bought me a new toy called AE, and was playing around with it, running some tests and whatnot, trying to figure out why it is that I set a SES light on acceleration when the engine is cold. Ran the buzz test and it came back with p1271. The light comes one only under moderate accleration. If i back out of it, or really step on it, it goes away. And only until the engine is warmed up. Injectors are rebuilds, put in about 5 months ago. When I did that, I checked all the connections, and everything looked pristine on the valve cover harnesses. Any theories?
Ok, I'm running out of ideas. I would love to hear some new theories on what could be causing this truck to seemed possessed. I'm still getting the code, if anything, more frequently now. Still no miss, or anything that implies any sort of a performance hit. Just that stupid little light winking at me off and on. I guess at this time it's actually easier to list the things that it's NOT. I've swapped the injector solenoid. Didn't change anything. Swapped the injector into 3, moved 3 to 1. Nothing. Replaced the UVCH. Not even a hint of a change. Replaced the valve cover. Nope. Well, maybe, just maybe, somehow its the IDM. Yeah, not so much. Well, I've got this engine harness laying around, let's try that. Nope. So. Does anybody have any NEW ideas. Or is it time to start tuning things with a hammer?
When it does it, what is the fuel level? The 2001 I sold would throw a code like that when it was low on fuel but it needed the hutch mod done to it. The new buyer was made aware to fix or not run it low on fuel.
Does this entirely independent of fuel level. Doesn't matter if it's full, or empty. Just does it anytime the motor is cold. Once it warms up, it's gone.
Interesting. I'd never heard of chafing at the shock tower. I'll look there next. And yeah, i'm thinking I may be ohming out the IDM to 42 pin wiring next. Oh, joy.
