Transmission Trouble Code 1746
I'm new to this site and this is my first post besides my New member "howdy" post. I have a 2000 F-350 DRW w/194K and trouble code 1746. My scanner says it's a solenoid error and I would like to confirm if this is the most likely cause and/or if there is another culprit in the mix.
I've tried to research the posts for this particular code without any luck. I only recently purchased this truck and it seems to shift hard, esp from 1st to 2nd but since I haven't had it long, I don't know whats "normal" for this truck. It also seems to shift too quickly from 3rd to 4th.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That code means that there is an open electrical circuit to the pressure control solenoid. That will make for hard shifts.
It could be a bad solenoid or an open circuit in the wiring harness. It will take some diagnosis with a volt/ohm meter to determine which one.

Thanks Mark. I was looking at transmission posts and hoping you would weigh-in. How do I narrow it down? I'm assuming at this point that it is the solenoid pack but how would I confirm or eliminate it?

Check the wiring between the PCM and the trans for open, short to ground and short to power. Check the solenoid across it's two pins. I forget the resistance, I think it is around 4 ohms, but it has been many years since I last looked up that value.
