Ok, very weird. Have a 04 F250. Got in her this morning to and starts fine, sounds fine. The guy that was taking the truck this morning came to me and aske me to look at it. When you go to turn the wheel the wheel turns like theres no weight on the front end. LITERLY! You can turn the wheel, like whiped it and it turns all the way left or right way to easy. What would cause this? Power Steering Pump going out? Like I said there is no squek are noise coming from any where. And when you make a turn and you know how the wheel will strighn after the turn, well she wont do that either. ANY AND ALL HELP will be much app!
Tires look fine. Like I said the sterring wheel turns way to easy. You make a turn and you know how it strightns up its self. Well she doenst. Just stays in the direction the sterring whell is turnd
you might be looking at a new steering gearbox if your getting poor to no returns from turning the corners, you could sepperate the linkage from the steering gear box at the draglink to confirm you dont have any mechanical binding problems some where down the line.
Turned out I believe it is the gear box. Talked to a service guy at ford! All the tie rod ends and ball joints are newer, so I wouldnt think they would be bad already with only about 12,000 miles on them
if ball joints are installed wrong it could cause your symptoms. I purchased 01 f350 with new balljoints installed by les schwabs. steering was terrible, wheel wouldnt return out of corners, pulled tierods out of spindles and could barely pivot ball joints with both hands, suspect installer used air wrench to hammer together, i installed new ones as per moogs specifications and all is well, can pivot with one hand. may not be your problem but could be worth checking before spending money.
I see. I can move all the ends with my hand under the truck. I didnt use a air hammer to intall LMAO. Used a press. I know im dreading this. Looks like this might be a hard job?
it was a big project but i rebuilt everything on the front axle but the ring and pinnion. i think i used guzzles write up, and that helped a lot, ive found if i search these projects out with info on the forum it saves a lot of costly mistakes, and you get a complete parts list with p/n, and popular brands of parts, as well as best prices.
