Looking to replace my shocks on my 2000 scab 4x4 sport. Its used mainly for highway/city use, not towing or off road. What shocks would you suggest for a nice smoothride? .............iff that's possible with this truck.
well if you dont do any offroading or anything id jus go to your local parts store and buy a set of monroe shocks
its all about manufacturer preferences tho some people like this brand some people like that brand.

Sure,,..............but Monroe has many models and grades
This is always a tough one. It's been my experience that when you ask for OEM replacement shocks, aftermarket types, they tend to be 10-15% stiffer than what the truck/car came with originally. Seems to be even more of an issue with anything that advertises better handling after installation.
Compounding the problem is the tires. Tires with big mileage ratings have harder rubber, and that alone will give a worse feeling ride. My current truck is an '05, F-250 Super Duty. It came with Rancho shocks, and when I bought it, BF Goodrich 285 70R/17 AT tires. Between the tires and the shocks, and not hauling my work trailer, the truck is a terrible ride. Since this is suppose to be the improved ride version, I'm hoping it's the tires. Due for a set this summer.
Seems like Monroe had a set called something like Easy Rider ? I'd look for options that stress ride quality rather than improved handling.
Put KYB Gas-A-Just on mine last year. I really like them, nice ride, not too firm, but much better than the stock ones that were worn out. Amazon had the best price with free shipping.
I agree, Monroe shocks are junk. Go with KYB. The GR2 are OEM ride, and the Gas-A-Just are a firmer load handling ride. Bilsteins are a great shock, but may be too firm for your liking.
i had monroe sens-a-trac. hated them, the truck felt like a boat. about 2 years ago i got kyb mono-max. they stiffened up the ride and helped alot with the sway. but i wanted a real stiff shock and they are still good.
