I need a factory plug.

The stock female end of my trailer brake controler was cut off when an aftermarket unit was installed. I didn't realize this wasn't necessary because there was a factory pigtail with plug in the glove box. Now that I want to install the ford trailer brake controller the female plug is missing. Rather than try to cob up some sort of connection I would like to buy the orriginal female plug. The dealer couldn't help me. Any one know where I can find one? Thanks, John

I take it you are looking for the one that was part of the truck wire harness vs the one that goes on the aftermarket brake controller removable harness?

If that is the case...perhaps going to a salvage yard and finding a donor truck and cutting one off and splice it in. Since you have an '06...you will need to find an '05 or newer truck...one word of caution...an '05 Excursion will NOT work for your needs...that is a special SD chassis '05 that I wanted to warn you about...

If it were the one that normally comes in the glove box for the aftermarket brake controller external harness...well I got an extra one from U-haul...but I read your post that you were actually talking about the plug that came with the truck and is permanently mounted UNDER the dash...I would try some salvage yards in your area and you will likey have to do the locating and cutting yourself...

Or I just had a thought...you could get both halves of a connetor with pins and make your own physical connector (not cobbled)...any electrical supply place will have a fully populated male/female automotive style connector with pigtail wires that you could splice into the harness and brake controller...while having the 'factory' connector is nice...are you looking to not cut the Ford brake controller harness?

Good luck,
joe.

Thanks for the help. The problem is that the male plug is part of the factory brake controller. It is built in.
