I was wondering if I could get some opinions on what people think about firearms made by Taurus Int.....particularly their pistols and revolvers, do not care much about the new line of rifles , however any info on them would be nice
I had a Taurus model 669 (357 Mag) for awhile and loved to shoot it.It was quite accurate and i never had any problems with it at all.I sure miss that pistol!
Not sure waht model your interested in, but I carried a PT145 at one time. I loved the grip and the 10+1- .45 but had many problems with jamming. Needless to say, I don't have that one in my collection any more.
I guess there 9's are pretty good, I haven't heard many complaints.
I have two Taurus revolvers...a MDL85 polished stainless snubnose .38 with a ported barrel, and a satin stainless Tracker in .22lr...both are excellent guns for the money
I have a PT 92 AFS 9mm, and my dad has a .357 revolver, not sure what model. I love both of them. IMO, the PT 92 is very comparable to the Beretta 92. I think it shoots just as well. And the revolver is very comparable to a S&W .357. Good quality guns, just not the high price of the bigger names.
Taurus revolvers are handmade in Brazil. Taurus pistols and rifles are made in the U.S. Taurus firearms are of excellent quality and they are all quality checked for accuracy at the factory.
Most Taurus revolvers are made on tooling bought from Smith and Wesson long ago. Many of their revolvers are very similar to S&W models, duh. The automatics appear to be knockoffs or licensed versions of the Beretta models.
I have a beautiful 357Magnum revolver with satin nickle finish. I forget what model it is and which S&W it is like, but it is very nice and an accurate reliable pistol. I use it as my house gun.
Externally the Taurus finish is very good and similar to S&W. Internally there are a lot of machine marks where it doesn't matter, ie non functional surfaces. So they save time and lots of money by not polishing up the insides of things that don't need a smooth surface to function.
I would recommend the Taurus as a good quality economical gun. I have no complaints and have not heard of any.

Actually most of the tooling is form Berretta, they bought out berretta factory there, Taurus used to be part of Smith & Wessen until the now owner bought the company back from S&W. What I was wondering is, I have the possible chance to pursue a very serious carrear with the company, just wondering how eveyone thinks of their guns, I mean whether they are comparable to say Colts or S&W or any of the other big names.....
Being a pain in the you know where, and being a gunsmith, I have to admit that you couldn't even give me a Taurus. They are not reliable enough for any professional issue, so go figure.
If the cops won't use them, why should you, other than being dirt cheap.
I had one for a very short while, during which time it jammed after 300 rounds, and continued to jam thereafter.
Their very light weight hammerless snub nosed revolver is the most painful gun ever made, for the poor guy firing it.
I could probably trash them some more if you like.
