Pre-Ban or Post-Ban? (AKA "We're in charge, so if we think it's ugly then it's illegal")

Edward M. Owen Jr., Chief of the Firearms Technology Branch of the BATF:

"Semiautomatic pistols and rifles assembled after September 13, 1994, and possessing two or more of the features listed in [Section 921 (a) (30), Title 18 U.S.C.] are semiautomatic assault weapons as defined. The fact that the receiver may have been manufactured prior to September 13, 1994, is immaterial to classification of a weapon as a semiautomatic assault weapon. Additionally, payment or non-payment of excise tax is also immaterial to classification of a firearm as a semiautomatic assault weapon."

Any of the firearms, or copies or duplicates of the firearms in any caliber, known as;
-Norinco, Mitchell, Poly Technologies, Avtomat Kalashinikovs.
-Action Arms Israeli Military Industries UZI, Galil.
-Beretta Ar70 (SC-70).
-Colt AR-15
-Fabrique National FN/FAL, FN/LAR, FNC.
-SWD M-10, M-11, M-11-9, M-12.
-Steyr AUG.
-Intratec TEC-9, TEC-DC9, TEC-22.
-Revolving cylinder shotguns, such as (or similar to) the Street Sweeper and Striker 12.

Any semiautomatic rifle that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of the following features:
-a folding or telescoping stock.
-a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
-a bayonet mount.
-a flash suppressor or a threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor.
-a grenade launcher.(like they weren't already illegal

A semiautomatic pistol that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of the following features:
-an ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip.
-a threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip or silencer.
-a shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles the barrel and that permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the non-trigger hand without being burned.
-a manufactured weight of 50 ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded.
-a semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm.

A semiautomatic shotgun that has at least 2 of the following features:
-a folding or telescoping stock.
-a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
-a fixed magazine capacity in excess of 5 rounds.
-an ability to accept a detachable magazine.

I can see a bunch of Clintonites (circa 10 years back) sitting around drinking designer coffee looking at pictures of guns. "Oh my god!", says Diane Feinstein, "that's a horrible looking gun, add that one to the ban list right away."
And then Hillary chimes in, "Yes, I agree. Why would anyone but a mass murderer think they need something like that".
Ridiculous? Well they actually had the ***** to tell Americans that this was going to reduce crime. As we all know this is Federal law, but many states like Kalifornia, New Jersey, Maryland, NYC and others have their own laws buried underneath the Feds, so for them nothing can change.
Anyway the 1994 Crime Bill expires in september of 2004. It must be upheld to remain in effect. In other words, if President Bush does nothing it will go away. This will be prime re-election campaign time. What do you all think about that? what are your gut feelings? I assume you can assume what mine are

Ok, so let me get this straight- they just outlawed semi-auto shotguns? I don't know of any that hold fewer than 5 shells, what's the point of that? Unless you have the detachable magazine you can't have anymore-

All I can say is I like my assualt weapons! Say all Hell breaks loose and there is total chaos what are you going to do to protect your family, get a muzzle loader? Hopefully nothing like this would ever happen but its nice to be prepared. No I'm not some crazy radical that sits around waiting for stuff to happen but I do remember the L.A. riots. Minnesota just past a conceal and carry bill and I am glad. All the Democrats are P/O'd of course. Just because you have the permit doesn't mean you need to carry all of the time. What I can't figure out is how they call the ban of assualt weapons an anti-crime bill. I can't recall ever hearing about some gang bangers doing a drive by with an AR-15. I doubt they would even know what to do with it. We are talking about people who obtain hand guns and firearms illegally and fire them upside down at their rivals only to hit innocent people. Why can't people figure this out? It takes me almost an hour to fill out the paper work to buy a new firearm but they can go out steal one or buy one off the street in less then 10 minutes. Or get a trade for some drugs.

I had a TEC-9, and found it to be a supremely crummy firearm. So that one was no loss.

Let's face it - a professional would use a bolt action Remington anyway (Shhhh!)...

CQC would be a double stack .45, or shotgun.

These of course only if you wanted everyone within a mile to know your exact location in minutes, or you didn't have an option.

Which is the nice thing about it - so far the majority of lawbreakers are just plain stupid except for those two creeps from up around Maryland.

Thankfully I belong to an order of whupass clerics, so support the use of anything that goes bang, in the hands of a trained and responsible person. So this means I do not support the use of firearms by NYPD, with a miserable 11% hit rate, nor the even more inept federal agency with a hit rate of 9%. Both of these fine institutions use fully automatic weaponry to kill innocent bystanders.. Of course, in their defense, there are no innocent bystanders in NY City. (Joke for heavens sake, haven't you got a sense of humor!! )

I hope, and pray that the enormously stupid bill runs out of time, steam and supporters, so we can all feel innocent again, and own a semi automatic weapon, with a bayonet. I have a bayonet mount / flash hider for a weapon I do not own, is that legal..

When given the opportunity, it is the absolute duty of all Patriotic Americans to ensure that the Freedom given by right is not damaged by fools, politicians or evil minds.

Remember guys, I am an Australian - My country took away our firearms, because we did not have an inalienable right to own or bear them. Defend your rights, as I will defend your rights to own and bear arms, because if you do not, my country will be joined in defenseless citizenry by your country, and your crime will soar, violence will escalate, and your elderly will become prey to thugs for what meager and paltry sum they carry in their wallet, just as happened in my country.

Hey my roomate has two rifles like that one in the picture, I cannot think of the name of them, but they are of Soviet origin I think, they both have a grenade launcher and bayonets.
