Help with Shackle flip
i am getting 4" SD lift springs for the front of my highboy, and would like the match the lift in the rear. shackle flip seems like the way to go. it says to get 64" springs from a 2 or 4wd chevy, is this a must or can i use my stock springs? i want 4" max lift in the rear because i dont want a rake look. what is the net lift with the shackle flip?
another question, can i still use the stock driveshafts with the 4" lift?
I'm still doing the lift but on my truck the rear springs were only 2.25 inches wide. I opted to junk the stock springs and go with the 64 inch springs Ed used. They are 2.5 inches wide.
Finding hangers for the old springs was next to impossible. The only ones I found were the same as stock from Auto & Truck springs on the Internet. I used the shackle flip on the rear of rear from RuffStuff, it's awesome. In the front I'm using the hangers shown in this thread cause I need a lot of lift.
Most trucks can use the same shafts with only 4 inches of lift.
Hope this helps...
D44 front swap for D60, D60 rear swap for 14B w/disk conversion. Also going to ditch the 5-1/2" rear lift block.
My rear springs are 3" wide. All of the springs at the salvage yard other than Ford SD seem to be 2-1/2" wide. This caused me to rethink the parts choices that were noted above.
I ended up getting the front hanger and springs off of a GM 2500 4x4 and the front hanger off of a 2wd GM 1500.
I will be using all GM 2-1/2" wide rear sping parts (leaves, shackle, & both spring hangers)
I'll post pics and let everyone know how it works out when I get it all done.
