Removing Rear Blocks

I am wanting to lower the rear of my truck to kind of "even" it out with the front, I've been searching on here all morning and have come up with a few ideas. I plan on buying 2" drop shackles as soon as funds allow and was also wondering about taking the stock blocks out from under the rear leaf springs. I'm not sure if it is O.K for them to rest on the rear end? If I can remove the blocks, I think that along with the 2" drop shackles will give me what I am looking for. I am not really a big fan of the stock "raked" look.

Please do us FTE'ers a favor and at least fill out the description of "The Blue Beast" in your garage. Or enter the info in your signature so we know what you're working with. Thanks!

By the looks in your pics it's a 2WD, right? ....2WDs aren't supposed to have rear blocks - it was leafs on the spring perches welded to the axle.

Sorry for the lack of info. Fixed.

Well I guess that would explain why the rear of my truck sits unusually high. I always thought it sat a little higher in the rear than a lot of the stock trucks around here do. Must have been the PO's doing. Those will be gone. Thanks.

This is exactly what I want to do with my truck. My truck has blocks and overload springs. The overload springs appear to be stock; optional maybe?

Ditch the block and remove the overload spring. 'Not sure if the overload was OEM or not. If load capacity is needed, consider one of these systems from Hellwig that mounts on top of the leaf pack:

I have a set that came with my 70. I plan to install them in the spring after lowering it with the DreamBeam/shackle flip combo. I hope it fits.

Ok thanks for the info HIO Silver. As of now I don't haul a lot of heavy stuff but may in the future. I'll have to get some pictures of my overload springs. It has a block above the regular leaf springs and it has another separate leaf pack above it. The overload springs have it's own bump stops that are ribbited to the frame.

You're welcome.

No need for the pics. I now recall what those look like... Interesting engineering, eh?

Yes it is. I probably need to take pics of them for reference anyway if the question happens to arise again.
