leaks downhill
'77 460 with c-6. Trans leaks fluid only when parked downhill, and very minimal, if at all, when parked up-hill. Anyone know what seal inside trans. is responsible for this?

...yes,i've checked everthing fromrad to trans.,all lines,and everything that enters or exits the trans.,and it's all dry.Leak is definitly internal,as it only drips from centre of insp. plate/bell housing.

Blue Mule, In addition to the front pump seal make sure that the front pump "O" ring is not leaking . C6's are real bad about front pump leaks. Standing the transmisson vertically on the tail shaft is the best way to change the front pump "O"ring, the replacement rings are a little bit thicker because they were notorius for leaking.

i put some wynn's trans. stop leak,and now it leaks more probably because the wynn's has dis-intergrated what was left of the leaking seals...question is: are all the other seals in the tranny wrecked now also?...is this tranny worth pulling out to replace the 2 suspect seals,or is it a basket case and get a reman tranny. ?

the seal was probably bad and the goo just finished it off if the other seals aren't bad id just pull it and replace the seal. If not take it to a professional transmission re builder and just redo it.
