I have had a few replacement glass pieces come in slightly larger (1/16 - 1/8) larger but they usually slip in. The gaskets allow a little wiggle room. But if you can't get it in, you can't get it in. I would call LMC and tell them to make it right.

I "we" tried from the inside because I thought the rubber is layed out for the glass to butt the inside ledge. Just for giggles we tried to figure out a way to do it from the outside...yea right!...From the sound of it, might not be the only one having trouble. It's hard to believe a 16th inch would make that big a difference so I suspect the rubber may have a little to do with it.

I feel your frustration. I have had a few glass installs that didn't seem to go right. I always blamed the glass but often it was install/rubber/etc. issue. Make sure the rubber is set correctly, use a lot of lube (i.e. dish soap) and rope it in. I use to work for a glass shop and the precut pieces often were more accurate than the pattern cuts we did inhouse. I would suggest you measure the glass you have and compare it to what the factory specs are. A lot of guys compare the replacement glass to a piece that may have been removed from the truck. Sometimes the older laminated glasses are a different thickness and can mess with reused rubbers. If you feel a LMC glass is off, contact them and ask what their specs are. If the glass is off, make them send you a new glass. They will.

In a way I hate joining into this vendor war but I find it hard to just stand to one side and say nothing, so here goes.

Overall my most reliable vendor is LMC, they have most stuff on hand, their prices are right, and when the part is wrong, they make it right (they even pick up the shipping).

DC (Dennis Carpenter) has some items that LMC doesn't stock and usually has them on hand but they are a bit more difficult to work with when the part is not right and they are about 10% more expensive than LMC accross the board (they refuse to pay return shipping).

Mid-50's has been great too, but they do seem to be a bit proud of their product. Their service has always been on time.

I have delt with others too but they all have their strong points and weak ones, I shop around and buy from whoever gives me the best deal and play one against the other when I can.

Just my .02 $

Several of my friends have attempted to help but it's still laying on that dang table! When we try to get it close enough to install it we're a 1/4" bigger than the hole. The glass is 1/16" bigger than the original. If you have any suggestions I'd appreciate them otherwise I'll probably take it to a glass shop.

Keep in mind that the windshield goes in from the outside & you pull the seal in. The rear glass starts inside & you pull the seal to the outside.

Oh....I bought my window seals from Blue Oval Truck parts....there is a seam in the seal, but it is pre-glued together.

From the inside, looking at the way the rubber is made it looks like the only way it could go. We did try from the outside but it was obvious that wasn't working.

I don't have any good pics, but I'll try to snap one today. There's an extra groove in the rear window seal for the upholstery panels.

Yea, we caught that extra groove, that's how we determined how it should install. Sounds like we're going about it the right way but it's just not gonna go. Got to admit LMC was nice as could be about the problem and said to ship it back for a refund. They offered a replacement but admitted it would be the same size. That's not much help. Does anybody know a vendor that sells laminated instead of tempered? If laminated doesn't fit I can have it cut down.
