starter troubles
Ok guys. after a long battle with getting this fuel tank in, i finally won and got the tank and all the lines in. When i went to crank it though as soon as i turned the key for the aux stuff to come on it started to start and went it fired the starter still would not disengage. What could be causing this. Also it will only start if i shimmy the gear shifter in park or neutral. id love some help because even though this little ranger has given me tons of trouble i still love her. Oh its got the 351m and c6 tranny if that helps any. thanks for the help guys.

Definitely the solenoid is sticking. When you replace it, buy a good one. Cheap ones from autozone tend to stick brand new in my experience. Cost me a starter. Plus if you have to move your shifter around for it to start, check your neutral safety switch. It's either going bad or just not engaging properly. My truck the shifter is loose. So you have to pull up on it when starting. Its been that way as long as i can remember. I can remember my dad doing that when I was a little kid
