dropped window on 66 f250

was difficult in rolling up/down, once I got it down, it wouldn't roll back up, and upon exiting vehicle and closing door, I heard a 'thunk' and of course guessed that was my window coming off track.....now what

Have you taken the access panel off to look inside? You will have to start there.

Once you do that, & if you can't understand it, remove the one on the other side for a visual. It is pretty simple.

The glass is not "off the track" ... the nylon window roller has broken, very common.

The roller fits onto the stud at the end of the window regulator, then fits into the glass channel. The roller breaks, window falls down into the door.

Shoot.... I just bought 10 of the roller/clips from LMC Truck, since we're going to replace them, not only in my 66 Ford F100, but also in the 66 Mercury Cyclone we're putting back together.... now it looks like we'll have 8 extras... . One source had told me they'd fit the Cyclone too, guess they were wrong...

Of course they were wrong and who is to blame? I hate to say this to a FTE member, but you are, because you don't have a 1965/72 L/M Passenger Car Parts Catalog.

I've been harping on this subject for over five years. Get the apropos parts catalog, so you'll know what you're looking for, and...

Since every part is illustrated, the catalog can also be used as an assembly/disassembly manual.

C5AZ-57262A32-A .. Window Roller-includes attaching stud / 11/16" O.D. x 1/2" thick / Obsolete

Applications: 1965/71 Galaxie/LTD/Mercury (fullsized) / 1966/67 Falcon/Comet/Cyclone/Fairlane / 1967/68 Mustang/Cougar (front windows only).

CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS in Concord NC has 769 = 800-476-9653.

The 1965/72 LINCOLN-MERCURY PASSENGER CAR PARTS CATALOG is available on a CD from hipoparts.com for $18.50. Ditto: 1964/72 FORD TRUCK PARTS CATALOG for $21.50.

LOL, thanks.... very new to this old-car hobby. Will be looking to obtain that parts catalog now... the Mercury will be a several month project and I'm sure we don't need to waste money buying incorrect parts.... thank goodness these were relatively inexpensive....

And, you coulda bought 'em in OR, prolly for less, maybe even close to your residencia...

Ford Dealers/quantity in: Albany (2) / Burns (7) / Madras (5) / Portland (9) / The Dalles (6).

There are dozens more in CA & WA

Are you aware of the upcoming 3 day Portland Swap Meet? April 13-15, make motel/hotel reservations NOW if you don't live nearby.

First time I attended was in 1975, flew in from LAX with two pals of mine, made no reservations, we had to sleep in the rental car the first night. Nothing was available, not even in the high buck downtown hotels.

Not pleasant sleeping in a car when one is 6-5, 300 lbs. Lucked out, met a guy the next day I knew from the T-Bird Club, he was gracious, invited us to stay a coupla nights.

Cool - thanks for the info on the swap meet! Will have to check into that... its only about a 4hr drive. Might be able to unload some of the extra parts and pieces from the 1966 F100 and 1966 Cyclone projects.

will the same part number work for a 66 250??? just to clarify as it seems that one must pay particular attention to detail when ordering parts

Yes, and I said so.
1961/66 refers to: 1961 thru 1966 / F100/1100 refers to: F100 thru F1100 > F100/250/350/500/600/700/750/800/850/900/950/1000/1100.
