3v 5.4 broken plug
I'm a little confused though, as none of the breakage that I have seen online matches what I have here.
I followed the TSB, and when I applied pressure on it, it loosened very consistently and really quite easily; I thought I was lucky.
So anyway, I backed it out until the point I was spinning the socket with my fingertips, but if I tried to pull it out by the top of the electrode, it is stuck in there.
So am I correct to assume that the hex/thread portion broke free from everything else, and the porcelain/electrode/sleeve are seized in there?
Such being the case, has anyone ever tried to crank the engine, and use the compression to push these parts out? What could go wrong here?
BTW the lisle tool was ordered a few days ago, should be here monday or tuesday.
Thanks for any help.
150psi of cranking pressure will shoot that thing like a rocket. Even if I lay a welding blanket over the engine like I had planned, I wouldn't want any shattered porcelain by any chance falling back into the combustion chamber.
So I guess I'll just wait for the tool to get here. If I had an open field to do it in, I would probably take the hood off and give it try just to see what happens, against my better judgement.
