Hi: I have a tow haul problem with my 2008 F350 6.4L. It will not go into tow haul unless I tilt steering wheel up all the way and than slam it down and than it will engage. Than when I want to take it out, I have to shut off truck. Does any one have a wiring diagram and info on how to get at the wiring. Do I have to disarm Air Bag and pull Steering wheel? It has been like this for a year or more and no warranty on that part they tell me. Any help should help, haakeye50@yahoo.com
Thanks Haakeye
Take the plastic cover off of the steering column. The screws are underneath. You will see the damaged wires where they enter the shift handle. Either repair the wires or replace the handle. A new one is about $65 from a dealer.
You don't have to disarm the airbag or remove the wheel.
Thanks Mark
I tried to figure out wiring and switch and than bought a new lever and switch. $65.09 works well now. I than took the old one apart even further and found the broken wire, I repaired that wire and now I have a spare unit.
Thanks again.
Would that fit 2000?
I bought the truck with the switch broken but hesitate to buy new one not knowing if that is the only problem.
How important is switching to tow on this transmission?

Two different transmissions. 2008 is 5speed Torqshift, 2000 is 4speed. Torqshift has tow haul mode. Older trans only has overdrive off button. Completely different animals.
But the shift handle is the same, except the lettering on the newer one says Tow/Haul while the older one says OD OFF. Other than the lettering they are identical.

I was wondering if either of you might know the part number on this? My local dealer was trying to tell me it was $380. Thanks in advance!
Using the information Mark provided I was able to get the part and fix the issue, thanks again everyone!
