So even after the engine is running, they could continue to 'glow' for up to two minutes?
That is correct...the PCM uses temperature, barometric pressure, and oil temperature to determine how long the glow plugs should be on. That is one reason I put an led which lets me know when the GPR is commanded on by the PCM...others have just put a manual switch to turn on/off GPR.
