I understand the principal of a diesel, the glowplugs and the cycle the glow pulgs go through to get the engine started. But, my question is, if the engine is already warm does it do harm to just stick the key in and start the engine with out waiting for the glow plug cycle?
No, it doesn't hurt anything. The original code in my pcm had my glow plugs cycling every time I started the truck, regardless of how warmed up the engine was. The code in my chip over-writes that, and senses when the engine is warm, so it terminates the glow plug cycle.
