I turned off the truck the other day and the Hey genius you left your lights on dinger was was going off. Thing was, the lights werent on. I moved the key lock slightly and it quit... starting up again 30 seconds later. I went to start her up n the battery was dead. Any ideas?
If you search the archives I think there's an article on disconnecting the wire(s) for the key minder. I think that would be the cheapest way to deal with the issue. But you'll have to remember to remove the keys (same chime as the lights on warning).
Its not the chiming. The truck is not turning off... battery is still supplying power to the windows and radio! Ignition is in locked position and key is out. Any thoughts?
i bet you need a new ignition switch, this is just a guess, but without being there to actually test it this is the best i can come up with... its probly shorted inside the switch ive seen it happen before on other vechicles
frustrating. Imma just disconnect the battery until I get some time to mess with it. I cut the black and pink wire. Replacing the whole assembly will be a PIA.
I got it to stop. I locked the steering wheel and the dinging ceased/ power was cut to the windows and accessories. Luckily Advance does free battery test and charging.
Update... So i got ahead of myself. Issue is still going on. I have resorted to disconnecting the battery until its resolved. Annoying. Yes. But thats life.
Im not feeling the third and fourth positions in the ignition switch like i should. It goes to the position and the key is removed like it should but theres no defining position click.
