Ice... I think what 79 was trying to convey is when you settle on what type of performance you want for the truck, call TMeyer at the link he gave and let them custom grind you a cam to meet those specific needs. Custom grinds are usually on par in price on most name brand cams, $200-$300 range. Then you will have a grind that is made to take advantage of every part of your package, from the pistons, heads, intake, headers/manifold on out to the pipe size you run. They take all that into account when they make up your own special recipe.

Cheers...
Nate

Most of the replacement cams you can get today, have 4 degree advance already cut into them. This with a straight up timing set alone will show the biggest improvement. Like Nate said, the differences in grinds comes down to you, what you plan to use your truck for, when do you like to shift, fuel efficiency, and so on. I'm just getting finished with my 400 build, .040 over, stock heads(all ready spent too much, couldn't get aussie) Tmeyer pistons, action plus intake, 650 annular Quick Fuel, Comp Cams XE256H-10, Should make 440 torque, ad 340 HP, with lots of grunt down low.

well I use the truck now for a daily driver sometimes. and will most likely start to use the truck to pull my atv trailer and maybe a 26 foot camp trailer someday. so the truck will be getting used as a dual purpose rig both as a daily driver and to pull my trailers sometimes.

The link from USarmytaterness's post is for an FE series engine. You have a 335 series aka M series engine. That link will get you a cam you can't use. I think something from comp along those lines would do well but it needs to be for your engine.

Ice man,
That's the same cam I was gonna go for in the begging, but then I bumped down one to the one I got now, just to get stump pulling torque off idle. You won't have any complaints with this cam, I would not recommend going any bigger. If you were going to use the stock induction, I would advise against it, but like I said, with a new intake and carb, you won't have regrets about this cam using the truck for what you described.
