We picked up our 5th wheel today. It was pretty exciting in more way than one. I was of course excited to see it and finally pick it up, but I was equally excited to really give the new to me Ford a workout! Jayco lies through their teeth on the dry weight of this unit. The unit was weighed there at 12,800 dry. I had the airbags set 50lbs and that seemed to be the sweet spot.
The B&W hitch worked better than I expected. It hooked up and unhooked effortlessly. Even the dealership took some pics and wrote down the name. They hadn't seen one in action and they stated they may become a dealer for them now that they have seen them. I can't say enough about the hitch...seriously. It's that good.
The pull out of the parking lot gave my chills. We had 5 people in the truck and a 12,800# load behind us and I could barely notice it. The truck just impressed me that much. We pulled it about 10 miles and there was a rest area so I stopped just to check things over. All looked good so we went the remaining hour drive home. There are quite a few hills on this stretch of highway. Nothing like mountains, but certainly enough to give a lesser truck a challenge. The truck never downshifted...not once. It also never had issues with keeping up. It was truly a pleasure to drive. I really felt proud driving it the whole time.
It is amazing how tame the truck is unloaded and then you put that kind of load behind it and it just hunkers down and before you know it, you're rolling down the road.
I'm glad for you savage. Really nice camper, nice truck. Now the wife needs a 6.7 so she can tow the ATV trailer when y'all hit the road!
"it" happened again. Towing with these things is just very difficult to put into words.
Well...it happened to be a great day yesterday for a drive down to Teutopolis, IL, home of the "Teutopolis Wooden Shoes" to pick up the new ATV at Weber Bros. They sell a variety of stuff.
