Howdy y'all. Sitting in Dothan, al getting some rest tonight. I drove 760 miles on one tank!
I really am pleasantly surprised with my 50 gal transfer flow tank. It pumps fuel into the main ank gradually and when my dash gauge indicates 1/2 or whatever level, it's actually half of 75 gallons. Basically it calibrates the system to keep my dash gauge accurate based on all the fuel I'm carrying. It's pretty cool.
I found the cross bed transfer flow tank 50 gal on Craig's list in my home town. Paid $500 for it. Then I had to order the 2011 ford trax-II monitoring system which was another $160. The tank is a 2007 model so it's not new but if I had gotten a new one it would have been $1000 for the whole thing.
I like it a lot. I search around and find cheap fuel, here in Alabama it is around $4.00/gallon or more but I found a station in town that had it for $3.89 and I bought 76 gallons!
I figure I save at least $5 every time I fill up, more than that though because I will be in Florida next week and fuel down there is probably closer to $4.10 or more. I think I can avoid buying fuel in Florida all together!
Anywho, check out the link. I like the system, but I have to say, I added my own in line fuel filter on the feed. Just a little cheap one but I can see what's in there.
That is very cool. I'd have to stop at least twice to unload recycled coffee.
Yes, I do make stops for relief but now I can just use rest areas instead of going through the hassle of crowded pilot or loves stops. I pull over fairly often to handle business and walk around but it is nice to keep my wallet in my pants. It gets old spending money EVERY time I get out of the truck.
Big tanks aren't for everyone, I never felt the need for one but noe I'm sure glad I have it. I'm happy with saving money each time I buy fuel.
