I will look through this a bit more later. what is unusual is that with my AE tool I got a lot of strange trouble codes like door locks and brake warning lamp. My door locks work fine. I wrote them all down but I am at work now so don't have access right now. Wonder if the PCM isn't also to blame. Guess first things first. IDM, then Injector swap around.
Received Swamps IDM yesterday. Should be able to install it on Sunday. I have AE, is there any way to validate improvement with this? Hopefully it will clear up my faults but I am thinking I will have to venture under the valvue cover to look into number 2 and 8. But one step at a time.
Thanks jkidd_39 for the suggestion on Swamps IDM. Installed it yesterday and I would have to say that if you have the older low volt style its a must have replacement. One of the better mods I have done to my truck.
Idle is so much better. With the radio on you can't tell if the motor is running or not at idle. I haven't done any hard runs but simple daily driving acceleration is much smoother as well.
Not sure if my IDM was so faulty that it gave me a rougher motor than most have or but I am very happy with this part.

Stemo76, never heard of the stage two split shot injectors! How do you like them? What size are they, cc, and how bad did it hit the mpg? Thanks Chet
So I don't recall the company that I bought these through but what I asked for was an upgraded injector that I would not need custom tuning for. Wanted to stick with over the counter tuners. This is what they sold me. The company was just a reseller of Rosewood Diesel. After the financial part the transaction was handled through Rosewood.
Come to find out after the install Rosewood said that custom tuning was required since they are modified injectors. I would say its been a challenge getting my motor running like it should. Since these are not the normal upgrade path most of the tuners are not very familiar with them at the time. I wanted to keep split shots since I was told they are quieter. But looking back I probably should have stuck with stock or just done the single shots.
I have no complaints about power. For what I tow it has no issues going over the passes we have around here. Does warm up the EGTs at times over the 1200 degree mark on a long pass. But with cruise control on it will stay at 65mph over anything.
MPG are not so good. get about 10, also have excessive startup smoke till I start moving. Once I drive it, it goes away but that doesn't help my neighbors when I warm up the truck in the mornings.
Budget Stage-2/s: $885 Overhaul, retains AB or AD fuel output, new nozzles flow 80% over stock.
With correct supporting mods, these are capable of around 350 - 375 hp.
