It sound like a motor I really could have in my tryck. I am leaning more and more towards a cool looking y-block like yours.
What valve train are you running, old stock with 1.54 or the billet one with hard chromed shaft from mummerts?.
Regarding the pistons what pistons did you start with (from JE) I could find any specific for y-blocks.
Thanks
My valves were rebuilt but i used the mummerts billit rocker stands, as for the pistions it was a custom job, i sent them one of mummerts aluminum heads and they went from there, job # 822463 hope this helps...

Well guys, this one locked up on me today . What sucks is I just got it out of the shop last Thursday, cut out and redid the rear frame and axel . This means this might have to sit awhile sent I just spent all that $$, been looking at crate engines tonight. Just can't decide, Chevy, Ford, Carb, or fuel injected Ls3. Keep ya'll informed L8R ZFLASH
I kept the original flathead with a few extra. Notice the SAE aluminum finned heads, might be the only ones in existance. Dual Strombergs and it sounds better than it looks.
Ravenheart, are they running? You can't laugh if they are running.
Although, I might hold that thought until you tell me what the 2 liter soda bottle is for on Jessie.

Winston,
That flathead looks like some high school science experiment
gone crazy! I like it! Have you fired it up to see what it sounds
like - I bet it's wild!
Eduardo - Nobody is laughing - your trucks are running! Don't tell me you still have that soda bottle gas tank in there?
Harrier,
The two liter soda bottle acts as a temp fuel tank, the one under the cab is missing the cap and the hoses are old and stiff. Much easier to add some gas in there and a spit straight to the carb to get her started once a week.
Ben,
Yeap, it's still there. Julie's been parked for over a year now and I haven't started her since July. The flywheel's missing a few teeth and the starter is right on that spot. I've been too lazy to crank the damper pulley with a socket to get it to move from there. Need to do it soon though. Would this be a "running when parked" situation?
I'll be in Utah in the summer, so I think I'll order the rubber grommets at the filler and gas caps for both as soon as I can remember my dad's address.
I don't know if you really want to see my engine. I'm tearing it down to freshen it up. It ran okay, but I'm going to fix a few leaks and give it some fresh paint. Anybody know how to get the dipstick to stop seeping? Can the rivets be tightened up, or do I need to remove them and put a new seal under the whatever it's called?

You can't tighten the rivets once they are in. I would drill them out, make a new gasket, and re-rivet since you already have the pan off. Or you could weld it, which would be a permanent fix, and you wouldn't have to worry about a bad seal again.
