Well finally got down to the speedshop and heres pics of my old 239 coming out .... and the 351 going in .... still in a mock-up stage but they are getting there !
All best
Greg
I have been thinking about about building a new motor but I haven´t made up my mind yet on what kind yet. One day it is a new boss 302 the next day a 393 or 408 stroker, third day a boss 302 block with clevor heads and E-Boss intake from edelbrock. But in the same time it hurts a littlebit to part out the old Y-block, so then I think about making some fun out of the Y.block, as fun as it gets with a y-block.
Best regards Jimmy
hey jimmy,
here is some info on my Y-Block
Heads are Aluminum by John Mummert as well as timing cover, valley cover and intake
Scat H Beam Rods with custom JE dome forged Pistons, Schnider 274F Cam. rockers are 1.54 high ratio. MSD ready to run Distributor.. final compression came out to 10.5:1 so i will be able to get away with pump gas...Things have been busy so I hope to fire it here in the next few days.. good luck with what ever road you decide to go with your motor choice...
I'd like to throw in my $.02. If I was starting a new build today I think I would build a big inch Y-block. These engines can make a ton of power and they look cool, especially with all the new stuff that's available for them. I think that they just didn't get due credit or attention when they should have. JMHO

It sound like a motor I really could have in my tryck. I am leaning more and more towards a cool looking y-block like yours.
What valve train are you running, old stock with 1.54 or the billet one with hard chromed shaft from mummerts?.
Regarding the pistons what pistons did you start with (from JE) I could find any specific for y-blocks.
