Spark Plugs and Spark Plug Wires

Hello my friends! It's time to do routine maintenance on my ol' 300inline 6, and I was wondering what the best brand of Spark plugs and Spark Plug Wire sets to use in ya'lls opinion. I'm looking for maximum fuel efficiency coupled with maximum power(That poor motor has 300,000 miles on it, and unfortunately the previous owner didn't take very good care of it at all, so needless to say I need to suck every bit of power from it as possible at this point)

Cheers

Spark plugs are like batteries and tires. Each person has their favorites and the ones they don't like. Most of the brands of plugs are good. Generally, the platinum plugs are better because they last longer. But if your plugs are easy to get to, and you plan on changing them often or they get oil fouled quickly, you might be better off saving your money and getting the regular plugs.

Get the most expensive wires you can buy, without getting the gee-wiz-bang spiral core or other "racing" type wires, and you should be fine.

Agreed. I'm still experimenting with spark plugs, but I really like the Taylor Cable High Energy wires. They're a 'higher performance' wire, but not necessarily a 'racing' wire, they're 8mm, they won't break the bank, and they look really good to boot. I will say that they're a little on the long side though.

You can't go wrong with Motorcraft plugs and Ford Racing or Taylor wires.

Ford Racing wires are really cool, they've got Ford Racing logos on them, which are pretty cool. But the Taylors are cheaper, at least they're cheaper where I work, and that was the deciding factor for me.

X2 - you can't go wrong with standard copper Motorcraft plugs and Motorcraft performance wires.

I'm not sure about the pricing. I just mentioned Taylor and Ford Racing because I order them online because nobody around here even stocks them. So I might as well have them shipped to my door for less $$$.

Motorcraft is great too, but if you are ordering online then there are tons of choices.

x3 for the Motorcraft copper spark plugs and Motorcraft spark plug wires. I would suggest Motorcraft parts for all replacement electrical components as well and Motorcraft oil and oil filter. Outstanding quality and this is what your 300,000 mile truck originally came with.

I like the Taylor wires, got 'em on both my trucks, and have Autolite 25's in them.

So essentially it's hard to go wrong here, just steering clear of the "racing plugs and wires". Thanks guys, I appreciate it!

I like copper plugs and DUI wires, pricey wires though. If you can afford it I'd recommend the DUI dizzy too.

I use the Napa Beldin lifetime warranty spark plug wires. I ohm them out when they are new and keep a copy for my records. About every five years or so I re-check them. If they are off, I take them back for an exchange. So far, I have been very satisfied with the quality of them, and their replacement policy.

X4 on motorcraft...

Spark Plug: Motorcraft Part Number: SP-420 or BSF42C

Spark Plug Wires: Motorcraft Part Number: WR-4050 / Ford Number: E9PZ-12259-J

Motorcraft Plug wires have a lifetime warranty as well. (From Defects not from normal wear) Depends on the dealer or store you bought them from on how they will honor that warrantee though.
