Snowseeker Captain Clay is the man!! Is that your son or grandson?
I am sure you did a nice job on that Evinrude 60. Looks good that is a Evinrude or Johnson right??
Other than my SeaRay I have a Bombard C3S (RIB inflatable) with a 25 Johnson and I have a 48 Special/ Johnson (work motor) that I am going to build down the road for some furture project. But that was the motor I was thinking of having you make me some parts for when the time comes. It is good to know you know your way around boats too. Because when it comes to fabricating stuff you are the MAN!!
That is my youngest of 3. He loves driving anything with a steering wheel.
Yes that is a evinrude 60. It was a spare motor we had on the side for emergency parts for our 70hp evinrude on the work boat. But after about 6 years of never needing any parts I decided to rebuild it and throw it on the retired boat. We got the motor with all 3 pistons scored from I believe overheating. Only thing I didn't do was bore the cylinders, when I got the block back I honed it in and did all the fun stuff. I found a bunch of water ports that were casted over and never opened up which is what I think caused the overheat. I opened up the water ports and moved the water dump over to the hot side of the exhaust and a few other small tweaks. It was a fun rebuild! Outboards are in a class all their own, no other motor like them. I love mechanical stuff!
Looking at the pics I noticed in my signature you can see the old white 40hp motor that was on the boat before. Which also reminds me we have to put that motor up for sale. lol
Requested pics of the exhaust water dump placement.
Stock dump location is on the left, the left chamber is where the cold water comes into the exhaust housing.
You can see here the gasket running down the middle is what separates the two chambers and in this pic you can see it would cover up the new location of the water dump. Original water dump hole is still visible on the left side.
Trim the gasket for the new water dump location on the hot side of the two chambers. Old hole was just plugged.
This dump is the water you see coming out of the motor in the pic with my son driving on the previous page.
I'm glad my article sparked some interest over here on FTE. Thanks for posting that Trucky2! I repped ya in the exchange before I knew you did this.
You're very welcome. I pretty much figured it had to be an FTE person who wrote that article. I found myself nodding my head as I read through it, lol. Good to see other boaters here with the best tow engine around.

We can't thank you enough! I'm bummed though. I looked for this magazine when you emailed Jody and I believe I missed the edition in the stores. Is there a way to get back edition's?
Not sure if Jody told you,but his rebuild project with a friends Carver with Cummins D90's is done!!! He'll tell you it was a job!!! Whew!!

I sent you a link. Had to use your DP contacts since your PM seems to be set to off here.
