Alright I found a down pipe for my truck and am now looking from there back. Would an exhaust setup for a 94 work from the DP back? Also I have no diesel exhaust experience is the straight pipe going to be crazy loud? Or will I not notice it much over the roar of the engine? I want it to sound good just not so good I get pulled over often
I just purchased the Magna Flow MF15939 (4"SS) for my 94, I have not completed the installation yet (Thanks to Banks, been waiting two weeks for a DP), I have had to modify the hangers, it does not fit the Stock factory DP and I don't like where/how it dumps out ... It dumps out at a 45 between hip and bumper.
Think I'm gonna wack off (don't go there) the 45 and replace with a 90 ...
When it's finished, I'll post an image, until then I'll just have to ride in the "YA DIDN'T DO IT LANE!" ...
so as far as straight pipe vs muffler what would you recommend? i want her to roar
On my N/A 92 I ran straight for a while sounded mean but I found a 4" muffler off of some kind of big truck welded a 3" adapter to it, welded it to my exhaust now it sounds awesome it really roars and is much quieter at the same time, it is just a deeper chugging sound. I like it way better with the muffler and 4" pipe.

Hey Festus,
I'd be interested in checking out what you're doing with your exhaust as I'm getting ready to do a turbo install myself. Also, if you ordered the 52103 from Banks, you should probably have an email confirmation that it shipped.
Yup, I should, I have not yet ... Monday will be TWO weeks since I ordered them. (I ordered two)
Totally unacceptable in today's world!
I have called twice without results, I get: Let me check on this (as I get put on hold), a few minutes later, click, buzz!
I will call again Monday ... I won't be nice this time!
Not doing anything special, just installing the MF15939 and a Banks DP if I ever get one.
I ordered two for two reasons ... One to immediately put on my 94, the other for a pattern to build a larger one when I fab up my new Wastegate housing ... That is if I can find a WGH for a pattern. (Can't use the one off my 94, need to keep it running)
thats odd Festus.i had good luck thus far ordering from banks.
maybe they dont sell enough down pipes to stock them, and they just bend them on a per call basis? hey,at least we can get 'em still.ATS left us completely.
Pee on ATS, I gave them a call and when I said I had an IDI, the guy sighed and said: "I get at least 3 calls a week for IDI Turbos and parts and we don't sell them anymore, just doesn't make sense to me why we don't, the market is there."
My opinion, We all know ATS and Ford are sleeping together, that is common knowledge, It is my opinion that Ford has put the cuffs on ATS.
We all know auto mfg's have done/are doing some pretty slimy things to sell their new throwaway junk, so one has to buy new every few years.

I ordered mine on 02/08/12 and got the shipping notice on 02/18/12. That means they are making pipes now. I was told they were waiting on materials when I placed my order. Your's should also be on the way.
So I guess I'm not the only one ... Yup, it appears they build to order ...

I spoke with the gentlemen from Banks for a bit on this very subject and was informed that they do not stock these on the shelves and that they have to wait for a certain number of orders before they can send it off to manufacturing. When they do a run they build more than the demand so there are times when there are a few on the shelf.
It makes sense in that inventory means money spent and a lot of manufacturers have had to trim down inventory to increase the bottom line. But I agree that it sucks for us consumers to have to wait.
Talked to them this AM, they said they shipped Friday, However they were unable to give me any tracking info (computer problems) so I question "They shipped Friday" ... We'll see.
