Super Vs Crew for MPG?

Hi. I just sold my old 1996 Ford F-350 DRW powerstroke.
Looking now for a 2005 SRW and Im wondering If I could get some input on the possible increased gas mileage I might get with a Super cab as opposed to a Crew?
Crew cabs seem to be more common. I do need room to throw all of my tools in there, but not as much room as a crew cab.

After driving my 1996 F-350 around for years as a daily driver and hauling my 15K 5th wheel around with it, I decided I want SRW, and as short of a truck as I can get away with. However if I can get a better deal on a crew and am not really sacrificing much I may just do that.

Any thoughts?

How many people will regularly be in the truck? Crew cab is much more comfortable for anybody having to ride in the back seat for many hours a day type of thing. I like my crew cause when I take my dogs I have the seats folded up with their beds in the back there, lots of room for them, extended cab not so much. Another thing is convenience of the crew cab rear doors as opposed to the suicide doors of the super cab. Another thing, the crew cab in 2005 will have the fold out metal floor, great for loading your tools on.

I haul different stuff and per my experience the weight is not changing mpg on highway driving. It does in city traffic, but I avoid that kind of hauling.
I can put 8000 lb forklift on my truck and my mpg change is unnoticeable.
Than I can put 2000 lb big load like tank and my mpg drops like crazy. So fuel -wise you will not notice big mpg change between 2 cabs.
Than in California CC are used for family driving and get mad prices.

it will mainly be me and possibly one other. I won't ever have anyone in the back long enough to even worry about there comfort.

I was unaware of a fold out metal tool storage area. Is it a compartment in the floor that opens or under the seat? Anyone have pics?

I doubt you would see much if any difference. The crew cab is not that much heavier than the Super Cab. Aerodynamics probably make more of a difference than weight, and the aero should be the same between the two.

Go with what you need and will make people the most comfortable. If you rarely have back seat passengers, the super cab is great. And it's a bit shorter overall for that maneuverability factor. If you need the Crew Cab, go for it.

I use my supercab for carrying tools on the back floor and the suicide door make it convenient as I don't have to go around the back door. Plenty of space there and big stuff goes to the bed anyway.

I have a supercab V10 my dad has a crewcab V10 both with the same trans, gears and tires. The mpg for both are pretty close. Empty on the highway I may have a slight mpg edge.
