I have a 92ranger 2.3 engine has been rebuilt runs good then starts stumbling and missing and will pop out the exchaust then run good agin for awhile. I thought water or bad gas so removed tank and drained put back together and same problem wat do i check next and how
still can't get any codes but when i disconnect the maf the engine smooths out and runs better for awhile. so i guess i should start there but something else is still not right
checked fuel pressure toay. pressure is good 34-38 at idle so ful pump is good.I think i have a cracked head allowing water in combustion after warmed up but i have good compression on all cylinders 145-150 and they don't leak down. bottom of engine was completely rebuilt but used the old head just lapped the valves. should have junked the truck instead of rebuilding

your fuel pressure might be a little high.....please post the results of the following tests.your results should be?
koeo 35-45
koer 25-35
koer with vacuum line off of the FPR 35-45
after engine is turned off the pressure should not drop more than 8psi in 5 minutes
pull the vacuum line of the FPR and see if there is vacuum on it and/or if there is fuel in the line.
