Idle problem and check engine codes?

Just recently my 89 f150 5.0 ive been noticing that the idle when cold has been really rough and almost like itll just rev up to like 1400 rpm and then jump down to 500-800rpm about 5 seconds after cold start up and hesitates alot once you hit the gas. Once its warm it isnt as bad. As this is happening, my check engine light just came on, and i checked the codes and i got a 23 and a 53 then 1 flash and 335 came up although i believe that was an old stored code. What do i do from here? People told me to just get a new TPS but i thought i can just adjust throttle? Any suggestions let me know thanks Harry.

Your truck is going to display 2 digit codes, not a mix of 2 and 3. Ford did not start using 3 digit codes until 1991. If Code 23 and 53 are accurate, that does indicate the TPS output voltage is not correct. Before tossing money and parts at it, invest in a cheap Digital Volt Meter (DVM). Those codes can also be caused by an open a circuit.
