Idling issue, TPS codes

My truck does not want to idle lately. If I start the engine while it's cold I can bet it will start, the rpms will go up, and then it will die. The fats idle during cold engine start up only works sometimes. If it does work, it goes back down to normal idle speed, then engine will probably die, or idle rough. I have to hit the gas at idle to keep the engine running or else it will possibly die, hot or cold engine. The idle fluctuates up and down, hot or cold engine.

I didn't have any "hard codes." But, I did a function test using a Snap On scan tool. It had a couple TPS "soft codes" and it failed the "snap throttle" test.

I really need to fix this problem. Any advice or suggestions or input would be very appreciated. I don't want to throw parts at it in an effort to fix it.

Well, I would throw a tps sensor at it and see what happens.

Are you being sarcastic? Is there a way I can test my TPS to confirm that it's faulty, or is it pretty much a dead give away that the TPS needs replaced?
