Hey guys i have been thinking about changing out my tow mirrors for the ones with the parking / blinker on them but my mirrors now have around plug and the other ones have a rectangle plug. I wanted to see if its possible to put the other mirrors on without butchering the wiring.
Aj - I think someone sells an adaptor for that- Least I thought I read that on here - If u do this & are interested in selling your old mirrors, pm me. Thanks, Bill
Now if there is a part they sell for it. How does the lights function and heat function? It wouldn't bother me if the heat function didn't work. All I'm looking for is the lights / blinkers
I would love to know what that Ford part # is too! I've had a set of these mirrors hanging around for a while now because I too was afraid to butcher up the OEM wiring. I went to my Ford dealer a while ago and they were no help. They said no such wire conversion connector existed from Ford.

Maybe I am mistaken. I thought it was a Ford part. But I know the connector exists.
As far as the wiring, its really easy. From the factory Ford has the heat wired to come on with accessory power. I mimicked this by taping into the power for the windows. Other than that you only have to run the wires for the running lights (I ran my to the headlight switch) and the blinkers (mine went to the steering column).
How hard is it to run the wiring to your sterring column? Im pretty **** about my truck and want everything to bejust right. And if you tap into the headlight switch you wont run the risk of overloading the factory airing or anything right? Sorry for the stupid questions just wanting to make sure before i do anything.

Running the wires to the steering column is the hardest part, but its not bad.
Heres a site i stumbled on. Its a pretty good write up but i do have a question about the wiring near the brake pedal that he writes about towards the end. On an 01 does anyone know the wire colors for signal and park lights? That would be easier then running to the column

The parking lights is brown behind the headlight switch. I want to say the signals are white/blue and lt green/white. But DONT quote me on it...
Thanks for all the help. Ill definitely look into it. One last question for tonight is if i do go the route withthe heat option also id want it on a switch. Should i put a relay inline? And what amp rating should the switch be? Thanks again for all the help

I dont know relays and stuff... I just left mine always powered. If thats how ford did it, its good enough for me.
The wiring is pretty simple to do. I tapped into the front turn signal wires right behind each signal assembly. Spliced and soldered the wires, then put them in a loom to each mirror.
I tapped into the parking lamp circuit on the brown unused wire on the factory trailer brake harness.
I added a switch to my switch box for the mirror heat.
