anyone know how to get it off?? or the ****. **** doesn't scew on how does it come off?? i cant figure out how to remove the boot either without breaking it. I need to remove carpet.
Which shift boot? I just had my transfer case boot off this week to clean the carpet. I twisted the **** for a while then pulled straight up. Then four screws for the boot plastic.
If you are talking about the transmission shift lever I will have to go take a look see and get back to you.
The main boot is screwed to the floor. Thew is one screw in each corner that holds in down. As for the shift ****, it should just pop off. Slide a 2x4 up against the shifter and below the **** and smack it with a hammer. What you could also do, is just remove the shifter from the truck. There are (i think) 6 alan (or torx) bolts that bolt it to the transmission. Just be sure to put a rag or something in the hole you create.
Wowever you really don't need to remove the ***, Once you unscrew the boot just lift up on it you will see two bolts that hold the shift shaft to the shifter. That is if this is a straight drive.
i took the 4 bolt out but the boot is connected to the shaft permantely it looks like. I think the shaft is actually a plastic cover over the metal rod but i'm not sure.
I didn't see the 2 bolts on the shift shaft but i will check again. Unless it is in under the rubber dust boot where the shift goes into the tranny. Is that where the 2 bolts are??
They should be just a copple incses above the dust boot unlest Ford changed it from 2000 to 2002. I just had to change my dust boot out a few weeks ago.
i found the screws but broke the plastic trim trying to get the rubber off it to get to the bolts. hell that rubber is on therfe good seems impossible not to break that flimsy piece of plastic. hope it isn't too much at dealer
I forgot about the 2 bolts that hold the shifter to the tranny stub! It's been 2 years since I had mine out to replace the clutch.

One could have an Add-A-Leaf to bring the front end up. As far as I know, the heavier springs still have the same number of leafs.

There should be at least 1 cable going to the top of each front hub for the ABS sensor, assuming you have 4 wheel ABS. If you have ESOF 4x4, then you'll most likely be looking at the vacuum line that actuates the front hubs.
thanks to all . yeah the thing i thought was a grease fitting was the vaccum line nubs. on the manual truck they have plugs on them. Looks like esof hub should swap in place for the manual ones.
Now the next thing i have to do i swap the cabs. I wan't to do it in one piece.
