Ok.....I know I'm going to get beat up on this but I looked and didn't want to resurrect an old thread.....so here goes. 65 CS with 2 speed wiper motor & 4 prong switch. Seperate washer button and the switch is starting to go. I tried cleaning contacts and connections and it still acts up. So I got me a delay setup off a mid 70's ford Bronco/Pickup.
Here's the switch
This is the connector to the wiper motor/washer pump
Can I just use the switch without replacing the wiper motor?
The shaft is modifiable to accept the slick ****. Use the wire and plug to mate up to the wiper motor wires. You can figgure this out by using a multi meter on contunity.
I used the late model switch the harness to the delay and out of the delay to the wiper motor. Dont remember what pins went where but i worked it out using the multi meter.
As long as your existing motor is 2 speed it will work.
Haven't done anything with it yet. I have it sitting right here next to me on my desk. It suppose to get up to 50 by Wednesday maybe I'll look at it then.
The new intermitten switch has 6 connectors were mine has only 4. This intermitten switch also has the washer button built in to were mine is seperate, so i suspect the other two are for the washer. Just need to figure out.
Everything I've read so far talks about replacing the wiper motor with a newer 70's motor, but none talk about using your exsiting motor (which mine is a 2 speed motor) with the intermitten switch.
Marky48170, just wondering if you have any more insight to this? I picked up the same 2 speed/delay switch at my local pick-n-pull and would like to use it in my truck. My switch is finicky and I would like to replace it with this. My existing switch and motor is 2-speed wiper.
Pat I used my 76 donors motor, swapped the arm on the back of the motor for correct parking, and everything else was plug & play. Been working about 12 years now.
Right, but the original poster mentioned that he has a 2 speed wiper already......and wondered if he would need to swap the motor. I am in the same boat. I have a 2 speed wiper already. I recently pulled a newer 2 speed switch and delay box out of a mid 70's truck and was wondering if it would work with my 2 speed motor.
This is what I found out about the wiper motor, you need to get one from a early to mid 70's truck because it will have the right connector you'll need to plug the the delay switch into. Ours only has 4 wires (65 f250 2 speed wiper motor ) and not the right connector. If you go to lets say Rock Auto or O'Reillys the picture will show the right connector for the switch, but you might have to change the arm on back of the motor for park just like jowilker stated. Sorry to say I never got around to doing this mod because someone really wanted the truck and made me an offer I just couldn't refuse. Good luck !
Well, just in case anyone is wondering...I started to write on this older post as a related thread to another post regarding wipers, and didn't realise my mistake until after I posted. Then "edited" my post to remove it, but...you have to leave at least four letters...hence the Opps. I love technology...can you tell?
