Correct ND, but how about using the 2 speed motor and switch from my 64 F100 in my 65 Mustang?
The Mustang is a 289/AT deluxe interior, but came with single speed wipers.
The truck wiper motor will not work in the Mustang, neither will the switch.
You cannot use a plain 'ol 2 speed wiper switch to convert to intermittent wipers. You'll need a 2 speed wiper switch specifically for intermittents and will also need the governor.
Right ND. I have been looking for the switch and governor. All of them I have found for sale have come together, since one will not work without the other, at least if you want intermittent wipers.
I will leave it to ND to say what will and will not work, he does an excellent job there.
I can revile what I picked up trial & error if you are interested. It appears that many late 70s, 80s & some 90 intermittent switches can be made to work. You will find them in a sliding or rotating control configuration. Since the trucks use rotating switches that is what I went with. Doesn't seem to matter car, truck, van, or other Blue Oval product for the donor. I usually don't look at pre 65 questions, so ND will have to say what is is. I can share what I did in my 1966 F100.
I had bought a 76 F100 donor for my ps/pdb/C6 upgrade. I have no idea today how the conversion started or why I put the 76 wiper motor in my truck. This was 13-14 years ago. I installed the 76 wiper motor, found that it worked but didn't park correctly. I swapped the 66 arm to the back of the motor and walla that worked. I got the switch set from another NC truck owner so I can not say for sure what it came from. The power goes to the motor then to the switch. I plugged in the delay switch set and it worked. It still worked the other day when I fired the truck up after a couple-three months and turned them on to flick the pine needles off.
The switch does come with the control. Get it all if you pull it yourself.
