Picked this up last night.

1967 F100 long bed. I haven't run the numbers to find anything out about it yet. Someone put a 429 and a c6 in it. I knew it had a bad battery so I bought one on the way to pick it up. About halfway home I had to swap the electric fuel pump out on the side of the road. I'm not sure why they have an electric one on it, I haven't tried the mechanical yet. I got the truck for $1,700 and have about $150 in parts in it. I've drove around all day today and it drives like a champ.

Is there any way to tell if it is a regular 429 or a 429 Cobra Jet?

Oh yeah, excuse the Presidentially Persuaded fuel pump install, it was night time and all I had was a couple of old tools that were in the tool box under the hood and a key chain flashlight...

congrats !
electric fuel pumps should be mounted close to tank they push better than they pull .
understand about the current location , you gotta get home .
start by getting the numbers off the block and heads to id the engine
looks like you have an after market dizzy , never know what else is in side .

Check the casting #'s just below the valve cover in the center of the head. If it says DooR they are CJ heads. The block should be a 4 bolt main if it's a CJ motor. Prolly not a CJ based off of the pics you have but still a 300+hp motor.

Its not a CJ motor. From what I understand, it has the worst heads you can get for these blocks. I still haven't been able to find the casting #'s on the block, but the heads are D2VE-AA's. No big deal, worse case scenario, it is a 72 460... I fail to see the downside with that. I originally bought this truck as a parts truck for my red '67, but its actually in better condition. I'll probably just drive around in this one for a couple of months while I try to make my mind up on what to do. I'll post my findings when I get squeezed in there and find the block numbers.

If you couldn't tell from the pics, the truck had 31x10.50's up front and 33x12.50's on the rear. The truck doesn't have power steering and turning it was a tall task. I had new 235/75 15's put around it and not only does it look better (in my opinion), but it feels like i put power steering on it. I can actually back it in with one hand now. Much better...

That's cuz new tires gives ya "goody".. ya know, like a fresh piece of chewing gum. Give it a while until the tires are rubbed in. It'll be back to strong-arming but likely not as arduous as the old tires since it now has a smaller contact patch.

I agree, that is not a bad deal for 1700. And a big block in a F-100 is ok in my book anytime.
