Remove the t-stat and run the truck around the block with each distilled water flush - no need to wait for 'operating temp' for flushing to begin. I never use the hose - no tap water in my engines, EVER. But thats me.
I also recommend a 1/4" draincock valve on the block drain above the starter. That plug is always a PITA for me and if ya do the flush properly - you need to remove it several times. Its soooooo much easier to reach up there and open the valve!
I fully expect any quality ELC to outlive the average PSD engine...
Stew is right, prolly no reason for the restore stuff. You are mostly trying to remove the granular by-products of years of SCA's from the cooling system.

I have always liked this tip.

What size? Thread pitch?
This would come in handy for me for tomorrow since I'm swapping a water pump on my neighbors truck for him, after I backflush his block.

I agree. But I'd also kill a fly with a shotgun if I could!
you don't think it;s a good idea to flush the system?
You are flushing the system. First with tap water, then with distilled.
You only need to flush with the Restore if you've had a problem. For example, if you've had oil infiltration into your cooling system. That's why the 6.0L guys that have had EGR problems causing their coolant to get contaminated, they'll use Simple Green, Restore, etc.
If your coolant isn't contaminated and you don't have a problem, save yourself some money. You'll use a fraction of the distilled water that way.
Check the Yellow Pages (hard copy or internet) under the category "Lubrication" and find a point-of-sale outlet near you. Call them to make sure they sell Chevron products.
1/4" NPT. Same as a standard air compressor drain valve.
Perfect. Thanks!
I'm bad about the overkill too - I wasn't really picking on you, just stating the obvious!! After all, I have EVANS NPG+ in my other truck...
I didn't take it like you were...well, maybe a good natured ribbing...but either way, you're so absolutely correct it funny. It's like trying to say the FN SLP Mark 1 is a better shotgun to kill that fly, compared to Remington 870.
