Did you take the springs and everything apart to coat it all?
I had the truck apart doing the new 6" lift, I coated everything before I put it back together and also did the springs for good measure. Believe it or not the springs are the only thing rusting right now in between the leafs where I couldn't reach without taking them apart. Everything else is doing great.
I've tried to repair the doors like the link mentions a few times before. Scraped, sanded and cleaned it all, then painted it up. Problem comes back in 6 months or so. Like I said my truck was previously outside year round. This summer I would go and check it after a decent rain and would find water inside the door. If you move the door or put a towel up there you could get it to come out the drain holes. Seems to me this is what is causing the most damage. That water works down the seam inside and starts the whole works rusting. Not sure if the drain hole can be drilled out a little lower or not. Don’t want to seal that all up and loose the drain holes. Guess would be best to stop the water from getting in to begin with.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
I used Por-15 on everything underneath the truck after years of rusting, doesn't really need a whole lot of prep but should be top coated if parts will be in the sun. The stuff turns chalky and starts to break down somewhat. It takes forever to come off your skin and is pretty expensive, but a little does go a long way. I will definitely use it again.
I agree. I've used it on a couple past projects. It's very thin and watery. So be careful when applying,it will run. A little does go a long way. It's very durable. It it is VERY difficult to get off your hands..Good luck
I buy the little 6 pack deals of por-15. The cans are like 4 oz. each.
I did my doors when I got the X but went all out to get the rust out before coating. I wanted to make sure it was right the first time.
POR-15 in the door, in between the metal seam, and on the outside.
I then painted it all white again. To do something like these doors right you have to get all the flaky rust out or it will just hold moister and junk causing more rust.
Hey, Andy. I'm curious how this is holding up. I did this last year and it came back. Not sure if I didn't scrape it enough or if I left room for water to get into it from the back side.

Mine has been looking good so far but I store it during winter. One of these days I am going to make up a wand with a jet on the end so I can spray the insides of rockers and doors and whatnot.
