Has anyone tried Rust Bullet yet? Any experiences or results or stories or anything to pass along?
I noticed their ad banner at the top and I am curious how it compares to other products. I have noticed that the price is about double Zero Rust and they both say they require 2 coats. It also says it is UV resistant where ZR isn't. I have compared what the two say about their own products but neither one is going to tell something bad about their own product.
That's a good point. For some things one may want a metalic finish though and ZR doesn't offer a silver color (to the best of my knowledge).
Along with that ZR sugests you top coat it even if its with their crystal-clear coat. So unless it's coated with the crystal coat it doesn't matter what color it is.

I have tried it and love it, hard as a rock when it dries, 2 coats and you are set. As far as color goes, yeah its silver, but in my opinion I usually use these type of products for parts of my cars/trucks that are susceptible to rust like frames, undercarriage, inside doors, etc. So the color really does not matter, besides you can just paint over that.
The ZR white can be used as a base and tinted to any color your heart desires.
I recently did a F100 externals with a light blue primer look. Top coat had a bit of clear mixed in to give just a tad of gloss as well as UV protection.
The frame was done with ZR black and a bit more clear for a stock appearing satin look.
I didn't realize you could tint ZR. This may be a stupid question, but how do you go about tinting it? Can you take it to the hardware store and ask them to tint it?
To compare the two, can Rust Bullet be tinted? I know you would be limited in colors by the silver base, but some one might be able to get a color they like if it can be tinted.
Also, what is this stuff doing to the rust? I think POR 15 is just sealing it so it cannot grow... what about Rust Bullit? Or Zero Rust? Do any of them actually get rid of the rust?
I don't know if there is any paint that actually gets rid of rust. There are some that claim to convert rust, but I think most just seal it in away from moisture and oxygen.
Well should I assume that Zero Rust and Rust Bullet are equal in rust prevention? If so the comparison lies in the color and price.
Rust Bullet comes in silver, requires removal of loose rust as prep, takes 2 coats, is UV resistant and costs about double.
Zero Rust comes in a variety of colors one of which is a tintable white, requires removal of loose rust and use of Prep Step as prep, takes 2 coats, and is not UV resistant unless topcoated with Crystal Coat or other.
It seems to me that the they are about equal in price after Prep Step and Crystal Coat. So maybe the color is the best thing to choose by. Do you want silver or another color?
I'm not sure available colors is the best criteria to base a choice on as both can be painted over. Is there anything else to consider or is there any other input on the subject?
