MPTonyT, can you post the link to the cheap BT OBD-II adapter.
Also, the "Rev" app for the iPhone looks pretty promising. It has good reviews and is $40.
If it helps at all RAPR, I'm using this BT adapter on our 6.2's without any problems (Android though). Paid ~$30, free shipping, great customer service. They said if it didn't work with my setup they'd refund me.
thanks, I didn't see that economic version of the BT OBD-II adapter before. I am happy with my UltraGauge, but I might just buy this product as well. Since I always keep my UltraGauge connected to register my true speed (bc of oversized tires) and my gas mileage....and I like having my phone connected to my trucks Bluetooth for phonecalls. I don't recall phones being able to be connected to 2 devices at once huh?
I will likely buy this BT connector so I can check out other friends' cars, since I already have a free full version of Rev (for iPhone).
My computer geek neighbor says that his android has more computer power than the space ship that landed on the Moon.
Still remember funny video when iPhone hit the market -showing how it can be used for shaving and anti-conception.
Few things I would consider (even my phone is just slightly smart)
- cheap scanners go for $29, while AAMCO read the codes for free.
-not all codes will show on any OBD II scanner. Some like transmission codes require advanced scanner, or special scanner fro the vehicle.
I know that Star computer for Mercedes scanning cost above $25,000 plus annual subscription in 5-digits zone. Would be nice to have a phone to do the same with $40 adapter.
Too good to be truth.
A simple pocket calculator has more computer than the ship that landed on the moon. However, I might have to update my phone to be able to monitor a lot of these things. HPOP pressure is a good tool in diagnostics. Good thread!
