i have a 445 stroker kit from barry, running a 294s comp cam, performer rpm intake, performer heads. I am looking ideas to increase performance. I am looking at a victor junior intake and a roller cam, an ideas would be helpfull. The motor is used in my mud truck and is not used on the road. Mud racing primarly and an mud bog once in awhile
edelbrock performer heads, they are gasket matched with intake, other then that out of the box heads. as far as budget, i cant afford custom headers, looking for some already made.
Your looking for custom headers? I was just suggesting depending on your budget you get the ebocks ported. the victor may help out but i would guess hurt lower end power. What headers are you running now?

That's what I'd be doing. A big roller cam, Victor intake, and some port work in the heads. What rocker system are you using? and what gas do you run? Did you get forged pistons and H beam rods? Nitrous could be an option.
I'd call Barry to set you up with a good roller to match your goals. He's got lots of dyno numbers and experience with the different grinds and will be able to point you in the best direction. From there you'll know what kind of porting work you'll need to get the most from it.
i have harland sharp rockers, i am currently running 92 octane, but pretty sure thats gonna change. I am using probe flat top pistons, and h beam rods from scat, i 've called barry but haven't got to talk to him yet, he is a busy man
This discussion is starting in the wrong area.
What modifications have you done to the block to make it reliable at high rpm and horsepower?
Without modifications, you can have a basket of expensive broken parts.
That's a good point. I just assumed the PO had the oiling mods done when building a 445. The hp limit on the factory block is supposedly around 600-650 (although maxtors CJ seems to be alive and kicking a** at higher levels). If you're going to be turning 7k rpm by say converting to solid roller, then I'd have the block crossbolted or use a capsaddle.
i have restricted oil passage in the heads with holley jets, using melling high volume pump, and an arp shaft, but that is the only improvements to the oiling system. This was my first 390 and didnt know about other mods at the time. I will be changing cam and intake soon, but dont really want to tear down entire engine for the other mods, its was just built last year. The engine is for mud racing only, never exceeded 6500rpm(yet), runs about an hour every other weekend, only high rpm for 5 to 7 seconds a pass
That high volume oil pump can work against you if you don't use a bigger pan. Given your use tho maybe your restrictors, chamfered drainback holes, windage tray and an extra quart will keep the pan full enough.
