when i plug in code scanner nothing happens.
i looked in DLC and it looks like it has 'tab' contacts.
my code scanner has little pins like serial and parallel
port connectors on pc.
it's a '99 4.6
how's this going to work?
Have you checked the cabin fuse box yet? There is a fuse for the DLC which often shares the power port or cigar lighter outlets. Check position #23 which should be a 20a fuse.
What model scanner/reader do you have? They should be somewhat universal connection-wise, fitting any vehicle with OBD-I or OBD-II
There should be another cable that connects the scanner pins to the DLC.
You should have about four cables that have different ends on one end and the other end will all be the same that goes into your scanner. You need to pick the cable that matches your DLC.

thanks!
i've got the little owner's manual.
i looked up fuses & breakers that said DLC.
i think one was those smaller breakers down
middle row. i'll check them.

it's an Innova 3030.
subford
zero adapters with it.
the $250 innova has 3 or 4 colored adapters.
i'm no expert on this, but they look like their
for testing other components.
i can post link to exact model.
i'll double check what i'm calling 'tabs' in car connector.
innova ABSOLUTELY has small brass computer-like pins.
outside plastic shape is a match.
that v-type shape w/2 rows connectors.
The model 3030 will not read the 6.0 OBD output. You need minimum the 3130. It says it reads OBDII plus CAN. If yours does not say CAN capable it won't read your truck.
OOPS. just checked your truck year/model. Your 3030 SHOULD read your truck..... Sorry, I thought I was still in the 6.0 forum.....

fuse #23 was the culprit!
i pulled the cig lighter heavy lead BEFORE
putting new fuse in.
i gangstered fuse from 'fuel door' for now, it was handy!
