WOW. I guess I have the bank to thank for not lending me the money to buy a new truck this last March. They would only go for the 06 6.0L that I have now..
Never did I ever think I would be thanking the bank for not lending me the $$
Glad I own a 6.0, I have looked at another persons 6.7 nice truck but not for me thanks one look under the hood ya not for me. Heard what it cost for repairs if something happens no thanks.
The more I read the more I am glad that I still have my 06. When the wife and I go serious about a 5er we thought a new truck may be in order as well, since we are going to be traveling.
So as many of you have read my posts we went looking, and the the prices scared to poo out of me. Then after a little more research and reading about HPF systme repairs to the tune of almost 20k I said no way. So with 68k on the clock I have somework to do. I have no warranty, but I have a "6.0 Fund", and I put mone in it every week and pray I dont need it.
Its been a good truck, Ive had the typical repairs, and Now it will be working again which will do it good. If the door rot,I'll replace them, if the engine goes, I'll fix it, if th tranny goes, I'll rebuild it.
For what a new truck costs, I will be money ahead even if I completely rebuild this one. Even used trucks are huge money around here.
To the OP, I hope you made out ok and got her going again.
The new trucks aren't that bad... a 2012 optioned identically to mine is only about $4k more then what the '07 stickered at. But at the time I got 10k off for looking at the 07s when the 6.4s had just come out. Only suckers pay sticker price, seems like not too long ago grand prairie ford had '11s for 8-10k off. F150s were like 12k off plus trade and financing incentives.
Say no to fancy trims, heated seats, cooled seats, touchscreen nav, power fold mirrors, Sync, and all the stupid crap and you can still get a brand new diesel for 35k. The first moron that buys a Platnium Super Duty for $70k deserves a kick in the nuts for being stupid, there are no amount of options worth a small house.

Shure Hope Ford has Something Diffrent on the Horizone as far as a Diesel option This EXPENSIVE Common Rail Fuel System sounds more touchey than a New Born Infant

Dodge is making the shift DIAL on the 8-speed in their half tons oversized for the same reason. Engineers need to get smacked around and told that not all their ideas are brilliant... they think we all wear gloves inside a 70k truck that we just drove into a "job site" that they probably imagine looks exactly like in a Toyota truck commercial (complete with flaming tower of death), but they can't put two extra leaves in the rear pack because it'll ride too stiff. Pointless attention to detail while ignoring huge things that actually follow of the originally stated goal of making the truck practical for work.
I know I can buy a new diesel for 35k, but I happen to like my lariat. I guess it has spoiled me for the next truck I will buy. Will I ever buy a xl or xlt just to get a new truck...nope. Do I want heated cooled seats, nav, not necessarily, but if the truck comes with it, or I order it that way so be it.
I spend a lot of time in my truck when I do drive it so I like the creature comforts. Would I pay sticker price for a truck hell no, but when the dealer only wants to give you less than whole sale for a truck with 68k on it that I would consider better than good condition I wont trade it away. I will cut my losses, hang on to it and maybe sell it outright. My problem is if I do get rid of this truck I will be upgrading to a dually.
Just looking around my area, I found a 2010 F-350 srw lariat with a 6.4 with 102k on it for 35k wtf are people thinking
The only person I know going to a job site in a $70 truck is the BOSS. And He don't wear gloves.
That is EXACTLY what I was thinking when I saw that LOL. What boss would buy a truck for his glove wearing workers that came with all the toys
When I worked for a large construction company that had fleet vehicles for the field guys they were all XL with vinyl everywhere and windows you rolled up yourself .. shock!!
That same lever also worked the a/c
Heck why stop at big bulky ***** for glove toting, bosses in $70,000.00 dollar pickups.... why not put big toggle controls in there like on heavy equipment? lol
Sorry, I saw this video and I laughed my a$$ off. I have to agree... wth were Fords engineers thinking and what was Ford thinking to use that to sell a premium pickup?

on velocity this weekend, there was a segment about the new ford
concept car, called gorri.l.a. imagine cross breeding a cuBe with an armadillo.
if you want to see how cars are designed, watching it will be a good laugh.
work trucks are designed by people who have never used a truck for work.
the results are not surprising. watch the segment, and look at the designers.
a **** a handicapped 5 year old can operate, and and a diesel
engine that requires more computing power than the manhattan
project had, just to start and idle.
and requires a bluetooth link, wi-fi and parallell processing power
to tell you that you forgot to tighten the pressure cap on the
coolant catch bottle.
