2V or 3v
Hey Guys....Just got my first FORD truck....Love it....it is an 04 F250 SD with 63355 on it. I was told at purchase that it had a 5.4L 3v engine in it, but I just read a thread in the engines section that F250 SD didn't come with 3v engine until 05. How can I tell for sure which engine is in my truck?

What you read here is correct. 99-04 have the 2V engines, 05-10 have the 3V engines.
So what the guy you bought it from told you is wrong, unless it's actually an 05 that was built in late 2004. To check for sure, look at the 8th digit in your VIN. 4=2004 5=2005
A few other differences for 05 are:
Coil springs up front (99-04 have leaf springs)
Different grille, headlights, and front bumper
Different dash
Torqshift transmission (unless it's a manual)
Larger brakes
17" or 18" wheels (99-04 had 16")
Factory trailer brake controller (optional)
